A botijo is a water jug made of porous clay used to refresh water. It usually has a handle on top.
On one side it has an opening through which water is poured inside. On the opposite side is a spout.
Water is cooled by the evaporation of the water inside.
Nowadays most botijos are made for decoration, not for water cooling.
